************************ATTENTION C.H.A.M.P. PARTICIPANTS*********************
I sat down to begin working on my CHAMP papers today and decided to read the General lnformation and Survey Instruction packet that was provided by Kevin and Terry and realized the deadline for submitting our forms is right around the corner - FEBRUARY 10, 2010. If you're like me, that's going to come much sooner than I'm ready! As a reminder, to participate in this program, the cost for members of USCHI is $175 and non-members is $200. If you have any questions, please make sure to call the office at 620/664-6297 or contact Kevin Dhuyvetter via email at kcd@ksu.edu

I am looking to see how much this type of work pays for an experianced farmer. My father was recently laid off as a truck driver. He has a Class A CDL, clean driving record. He also farmed his entire life until 5 years ago in IN; we had corn, soybeans, and occationally wheat. We did have a semi and he hauled our grain. He is 56 years old and I think he would be great at something like this. Just trying to get ideas for him.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!!! We have another Del Peterson/USCHI auction in the very near future. The next Absolute Auction for any equipment you would like to sell is March 17th at the Bosselman Truck Plaza in Grand Island, NE. For more information contact Del Peterson and Associates at 800-492-9090. The auction last week in Hutchinson was a huge success. This auction will offer some of the guys up north an opportunity to sell their used or unwanted equipment as well.

There are a lot of people using this discussion board to seek employment. That’s good! That’s what this board is to be used for - and other things, as well. However, it’s unfortunate that some of the harvesters reading this and taking advantage of the website aren’t members of USCHI. It’s through membership that we are able to provide this benefit because having a website is not free. I’ve heard comments from harvesters who are not members they don’t need to be because they receive the benefits without having to pay the membership dues. Unfortunately, they’re right but the membership dues are important to ALL of us! If everyone felt the same way, we would have no website, we would have no office to network people, we would have no one fighting for the fuel tank issue, we would have no reason to have a convention, etc. Your membership dollars are important to our organization and if you’re NOT a member and receive the benefit of using the website I do hope it’s beneficial to you but we sure could use the $200 per year to continue supporting our industry’s only organization. $200 represents how many gallons of diesel fuel??
PLEASE call the office at 620/664-6297 and tell Pam you’ve decided to SUPPORT the U.S. Custom Harvesters, Inc. with your $200 membership.
Then……make plans to attend the annual meeting/convention March 4 - 6, 2010 in Wichita Falls, TX. At the convention, you’ll be able to network with other harvesters, attend seminars relating to our industry, listen to guest speakers, meet with equipment and insurance reps and other businesses that support our yearly trek, and enjoy a weekend of pre-harvest chat.

*******INFORMATION REGARDING THE FUEL TANK ISSUE*****
I sent another email to my contact within the PHMSA regarding the Petition for Rulemaking (the actual changing of the federal rules). Here is her response:
"I am so sorry for not getting back to you more quickly on this. I have been in and out of the office the last couple of weeks. We are still on track to publish an ANRPM that includes your petition next month. The petition is NOT dead; we agree that we need to look at how we regulate combustible liquids generally and whether we can provide additional exceptions for specific types of operations. Please reassure your members that we are still on track and moving it forward as quickly as we can."
Hope this gives you something to hold onto! Please don't give up hope and remember it will take ALL of us working together to get this done!

We are in need of someone to be in charge of the Kid's Program for convention this year. Unfortunately, Kelly Svitak (sponsored by Case IH) will not be able to attend this year. She has volunteered to do this in previous years and has done a tremendous job. If you have a desire to put something together for the kids while we're in Wichita Falls in March, please give Pam a call at the office - 620/664-6297. If we can't get anyone to fill Kelly's shoes, there will be no kid's program this year.

Hi,
My name is Will Chrystal a farmers son form Newcastle, England, ive been given your detales for one of your members,i am 27 years of age and love farming, i own in partnership with my farther a small arable farm consisting of 200ha, small i know but i love it.
I also work for a haulage company part time with lots of experience of wide and long loads, travelling throughout the uk i have a full H,G,V Class 1 but sadly i lost my licence for six months through 'topping up of points', speeding x2 slightly above 30mph and using mobile phone while driving x2 thus the ban which ends on the 26/4/2010.(hope this isn't a problem).
This is the first time i have looked for work in the U.S.A, previously i first worked in Australia (W.A.) when i was 19, working on a family farm of 40,000 Ac. which we harvested with jd 9750 sts x2 my first real experience for big farming, then previous years he payed for my flights back for seeding and harvesting until 2008 where i could not go for family reasons and had to give my place up.
In october 2008 i found a job in Australia again but this time over in N.S.W. working for a large contractor consisting of 9x 9750 6x 9760 and 4 new 9870 we covered over 190,000 acres in 3 and a bit months weather permitting but really good fun working as a large team but also having to fend for yourself from time to time.
so, i found your details on the internet and wanted to give ur side a go!
please get back to me if you/or you know someone who is looking for a hard working very experienced hedder driver. Thank you Will Chrystal,(chrystalwill@hotmail.com)

Your site is a refreshing change from the majority of sites I have visited. When I first started visiting web sites I was excited by the potential of the internet as a resource and was very disappointed initially. You have restored my enthusiasm and I thank you for your efforts to share your insights and help the world become a better place.
